About

What do you get when you get Mary Quaid…..

There’s a question I have been asked, and asked many times in my working life and its the one where the answer by default feels like “blowing my own trumpet”.  That’s what we were taught growing up, self praise is no praise!  With that in mind, or setting it aside, here’s my best shot at an honest, fact based interpretation of ME!

From my school days I have always had a keen interest in Business and Accounting while also very much feeling my best and happiest when working with, supporting and helping people.   I grew up in a spectacularly beautiful part of the world, Ballybunion by the Sea in County Kerry.  This afforded me lots of opportunity at an early age to gain workplace skills and experience in the many hotels and restaurants of the seaside town.

After a somewhat extended pathway taken, I discovered my calling in Human Resources.   I found my one place where I could marry my love of helping and supporting people and and my love of business.

Fast forward through a career spanning (ahem!!!) 20+ years working across a wide variety of industries and contexts leading ultimately to setting up HumanEyes HR.

Those years have provided me with a plentiful, varied and rich experiences in a colourful array of context and needs.   Throughout I have worked in businesses where the focus was both growth and downturn (the good times and bad so to speak!); I have had the opportunity to build first time HR functions  as well as contributing to developing an existing HR function to meet business needs.  I have created, revised, reframed, and delivered on people practices, policies, procedures and processes as part of my remit and in support of business strategy.

And all of this across a broad spectrum of  Industry that includes Manufacturing, Customer Service, Industrial Engineering, Technology, Logistics, Security, FMCG and NGO/Not for Profit.

My skills and experience –  learned and earned – during the past 20+ years has provided me with a deep and broad perspective on all workplace needs both employer and employee helping to achieve that optimum outcome of a win/win for all.

I am an avid and keen learner – my mother believes I will never finish ‘college’!!    And I have to say that like with most things, Nora Quaid is not wrong!  I have and will continue to open my mind and opportunities by learning new skills and adapting them into my work.  Recently I had the pleasure of adding a Postgrad in Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in UCD to my long list of learning achievements.   In terms of credentials around HR, I have a MA in Strategic HR Leadership; BA in HR Management; Cert in Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace;  Certified Train the Trainer; Accredited Mediator; Accredited Coach with Neuroscience.
